Academic Success Center

Success Matters

The Success Matters initiative consists of the following components:

  • Interactive online modules focused on wellbeing, new strategies, campus connections, goal-setting, and the probation process students can complete in Canvas before classes begin.
  • Meeting with your assigned academic advisor to discuss your success plan for the upcoming term.
  • Regular communication throughout the semester focused on helping you return to good academic standing.

Any student enrolled for the upcoming term who has a cumulative GPA below 2.0 will receive access to these modules prior to the start of classes.

The modules are focused on enriching well-being, trying new strategies, getting connected on-campus, setting goals, and understanding probation. You’ll have the opportunity to hear from students who have gone through the probation process and from campus partners who are here to support you. As you go through the modules, you’ll be asked to complete several self-reflections designed to help you move forward in a positive direction.

You will have access to these modules throughout the semester. You can download the summary sheets from these modules for a quick reference to the resources and strategies covered. Check your Clemson email or your Canvas home page for the invitation to join.

You will also receive messaging from your academic advisor to schedule an appointment to help you design a success plan.

Importance of Completion

Reasons to complete the Success Matters online modules:

  • Of the students engaged with the modules, 96% agreed they personally benefitted from engaging with these modules.
  • Students who completed the modules were more likely to return to good standing at the end of the semester.
