Remembering V Sridharan

Clemson University mourns the loss of V Sridharan, Ph.D., retired professor of management and former chair of the Department of Management in the Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business. Sridharan passed away on June 21, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and excellence.

"We are saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. V. Sridharan," said Dean York. "Sridharan was a great leader, serving as the chair of the Department of Management for over 11 years during his tenure. He was deeply passionate about research and education and cultivated a remarkable culture within higher academia. His dedication and contributions will be greatly missed by our entire college."

Sridharan's impact is evident in the many lives he touched. Colleagues remember him not only for his professional achievements but also for his kindness, humility and dedication to the well-being of those around him. His innovative approach to teaching and research inspired many, and his efforts elevated the department's reputation. His mentorship helped shape the careers of countless students and faculty members.

"Sri played a pivotal role in bringing me to Clemson, and I had the privilege of working alongside him for nearly 19 years, first as a fellow researcher and later as an administrator. In every endeavor, Sri exemplified professionalism, consistently striving for excellence in his work for the discipline, his colleagues and his students. He not only shaped my career but also profoundly influenced the careers of many others. His absence will be deeply felt. Rest in peace, my dear friend." said Raju Balakrishnan, Ph.D., Dean of the Merrick School of Business at the University of Baltimore and previous Senior Associate Dean of Clemson University's College of Business.

The University community extends its deepest condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time. Sridharan's legacy at Clemson University is one with a lasting impact that will continue to inspire and guide the College and the Department of Management.

V Sridharan, Ph.D., retired Professor of Management and former chair of the Department of Management at Clemson University, passed in the early hours of June 21, 2024. He was greatly cherished, loved, respected, and admired by his wife Uma, his daughter Suhas (and her husband Zac), his son Jay Krishna, precious grandsons Adiraj and Vikram and many friends, colleagues, former Ph.D. students and members of his extended family. He is greatly and deeply missed.
