Engrained

ARCH 2520 | Professor Mendez
This project, titled Engrained, is located in Cayce, SC and focuses on connecting two performance spaces through central hallways of varying hierarchy. Every design decision considered the grain and flow of movement throughout the building. Performance, learning, public, and supporting spaces split the building into two realms: the left accommodating the public from downtown Cayce, and the right focusing on learning spaces to students who come from the parking lot. Materials, like brick, were chosen to tie into downtown Cayce, but the building incorporates metal siding to stand apart.
