The proposed projects explore student health services on the Clemson University campus specifically, and in general, examining the premise that ambulatory care settings should be more therapeutic, healthful, and sustainable, more patient and staff centered, and provide more efficient and effective settings for delivering a broad range of health services. It explores how the design of a replacement facility for the Redfern Health Center on Campus can positively impact the physical, mental, and social health of Clemson students as individuals as well as the University community at large – both during periods of normalcy and now with the threat of COVID-19 and future pandemics. The project proposals assume that Clemson University will eventually replace Redfern Health Center with a facility designed to serve its mission better and be more accessible to its primary population – students and their spouses – both on and off-campus.
