Professional Development Travel
CAFLS provides many opportunities for academic and professional development through travel. You can participate in industry tours to learn more about the variety of careers available and network with industry professionals. Students also attend academic and professional conferences to connect with future colleagues, practice communication and presentation skills, and more. Each of the five academic departments provides unique opportunities for you to further engage with academic content, gain hands-on experiences, and build community.
Industry Tours
Industry tours are offered throughout the academic year to give you a glance into the companies you might intern with or work for after graduation. Getting outside of the classroom and into these industries is important to connecting the dots between the fundamentals you learn in the classroom and real-world application. You also get the opportunity to interact with industry professionals and practice professional communication—like your “elevator pitch”—in a real time setting.
Conferences
Academic and professional conferences provide opportunities for you to present your research or compete at regional, national, and international levels. CAFLS is proud to offer financial support for students presenting or competing at conferences. Interested students should talk to their faculty or staff mentor for more information!
