Professor Laine Mears is the Director of the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering and joined the Automotive Engineering faculty in July 2006 as an Assistant Professor at the CU-ICAR campus as one of the founding faculty members. Laine serves as the BMW Endowed Chair in Automotive Manufacturing and was the chair of Clemson’s Automotive Engineering Department.

Kay Faith is the current Program Coordinator for the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering and former Office Coordinator of Clemson’s Automotive Engineering Department. Prior to coming to Clemson, Kay gained experience in higher education and the health care system.

Department of Automotive Engineering

Chaired (Acting) by Robert Prucka, the Department of Automotive Engineering has over 200 graduate students and will welcome its second set of undergraduate students for the new B.S. in Automotive Engineering. The department has 35 faculty members and 20 administrative, technical, and research staff members.

Chaired by John Wagner, the Department of Mechanical Engineering has over 35 tenured/tenure track faculty plus lecturers who teach and perform research on a broad range of topics.
