Social Media Guidelines
These supporting guidelines are intended to properly portray, promote and protect the institution and its employees, and to assist University entities in effectively creating and managing social media accounts as well as maintaining and enforcing brand standards through the use of social media content.

Instagram Usage Policy - 09.21.23
This Instagram account exists to highlight what the college experience is like for Clemson students and to share information about Clemson University with prospective students, current students, alumni, staff, faculty and fans.
All viewpoints related to these topics are welcome, and comments will not be removed based on the viewpoints expressed, provided the comments are on-topic and otherwise comply with this policy. However, Clemson University may review and remove comments on posts based on the criteria described below.
Posting to or activity on this or any other Official University Social Media accounts is subject to removal without notice if:
- It is not consistent with the subject matter or topical purpose for that specific account;
- It is commercial speech or solicitations by a person or entity other than Clemson University itself;
- It is or contains speech or expression that is not protected by the First Amendment, such as any unlawful, defamatory, or obscene (as defined by South Carolina and federal law) activity or posting;
- It divulges someone else’s personal identifying information, non-public contact information, or information protected from disclosure by state or federal law, including but not limited to the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (“FERPA”); or
- The moderator has reasonable basis to believe that a user or account is an impersonation, an imposter, is a “bot” dissemination artificial intelligence-generated content that is not protected by the First Amendment.
All comments must be directly related to the topic of the original post or they may be removed. The following are examples of comments that are not consistent with the subject matter or topical purpose for that specific account.
