If my company is interested in sponsoring a research project at Clemson, how do I get started?
If you wish to find the right Clemson University researcher to help support your company’s research and development efforts, you may contact the Clemson University Research Foundation (CURF). CURF will help connect you to researchers based on your needs and resources available to support the project. If you have identified a Clemson University researcher to support your company’s research and development efforts, the researcher can contact the Office of Industry Contracts at cuic@clemson.edu or 864-656-3989 to discuss next steps to initiate the project.

If I need to share confidential information with a Clemson University researcher to discuss potential research opportunities, what do I need to do?
The Clemson University researcher can request a Confidentiality/Non-Disclosure Agreement to allow the exchange of confidential information by submitting an Agreement Request Form to the Office of Industry Contracts.

Who will own the intellectual property that results from a research project sponsored by my company?
Clemson University asserts a right of ownership to any intellectual property that is created by Clemson personnel in the performance of a sponsored research project. However, Clemson recognizes a company’s need to access project intellectual property that results from work it funds and has created contract options that enable companies to license project intellectual property on fair and reasonable terms.

Will my company have the opportunity to review publications resulting from a sponsored project?
Yes, Clemson University can allow a limited period of time for industry sponsors to review publications and presentations of the research results to ensure that the sponsor’s pre-existing confidential information is not being divulged and to protect any patentable inventions.
