Not your Fault
If someone has harmed you, it's NOT your fault. Someone may have caused you to feel unsafe, vulnerable, and/or powerless. Remember, you did nothing to deserve or cause another person to hurt you.
Ask for Help
Help is available for you on campus and in the community.
You may or may not want to report the incident, and there are options for doing this. The decision is up to you. Either way, we encourage you to take advantage of resources on or off campus.
Self-Care
After a traumatic incident, you may need medical attention and/or emotional support. To learn more about resources available to you, please see our resources page. Clemson’s Interpersonal Violence Response Coordinators are here to answer any questions and accompany you, if needed, to related meetings.
Do Things at Your Own Pace, In Your Own Time
It is common to experience a variety of emotions after a traumatic experience; this is a good time to surround yourself with people who support and understand your needs and honor your choices. All feelings are normal and valid.
