Meet with Your Academic Advisor and Register for Classes
Academic Advising
All new students will meet virtually with an academic advisor as part of New Student Orientation.
Academic advisors are here to guide and support you in your transition to Clemson. Beginning with Orientation advising, we will work with you to create a personalized academic plan that aligns with your goals, interests and strengths.
Before scheduling your academic advising appointment, you must complete:
- Modules 1 and 2 in the Virtual Orientation platform
- A pre-advising form, where you provide your advisor information about your expected transfer credits and future academic and professional goals
Academics Module
The Virtual Orientation Academics module will provide you with information you need to prepare for your advising appointment. You may have the opportunity to meet or hear from the advising team in your major as well as learn about expectations for students and advisors in the advising process.
Pre-Advising Form
After signing up for Orientation and paying your student transition and support fee, you will be able to start working on your pre-advising form. This form must be submitted before you can schedule your advising appointment.
You will be asked to review transfer credits that we have already received for you and enter any expected AP, IB or dual-enrollment courses that you expect to bring in credit for that are not already listed as received by Clemson.
You will also answer some questions about your plans while you’re a student at Clemson and your future goals.
This information is critical in helping your advisor support you in creating your first-semester schedule.
Schedule Your Advising Appointment
After completing your first two Virtual Orientation modules and the pre-advising form, your advisor will reach out to your Clemson email with instructions for scheduling your advising appointment through the CU Navigate app.
We encourage you to be patient while you wait for your advisor to reach out to you as advisors are working through their lists of students as quickly as they can.
Your advisor will also provide you with any information you may need to have prepared before your appointment as well as what to expect during your virtual meeting.
Register for Courses
After meeting with your advisor, you’ll be able to select your course registration day and time in your Clemson admissions portal.
Fall 2025 course registration will take place June 16-20, July 14-18 and August 14-15.
Most advisors will provide a Zoom or Teams meeting during course registration windows for students to receive technical and registration support. For some majors, these virtual meetings are mandatory. We encourage you to monitor your Clemson email closely for instructions from your advisor on accessing this virtual meeting.
