MAJ Jonathan Hunter grew up in Hampton, VA. He graduated from The United States Military Academy at West Point with a B.S. in Economics in 2013, Websters University with a Master of Arts in Management and Leadership in 2019 and is currently completing his MBA in Business Analytics from Clemson University.
After graduating FA BOLC, CPT Hunter was assigned to the 1st Calvary Division, Fort Hood, TX, where he served as a Company Fire support Officer in support of Alpha Company, 1-8 Calvary. Additionally, he would serve as a Platoon Leader and Battery Executive Officer with Bravo Battery, 3rd Battalion, 16th Field Artillery Regiment “Rolling Thunder.”
In 2018, CPT Hunter graduated the Field Artillery Captains Career Course and was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division as the Battalion Fire Direction Officer for 2d Battalion, 32d Field Artillery Regiment “Proud Americans.” During this time, he would deploy with the battalion to Iraq, where he would be placed in a position of greater responsibility and serve as the task force S3. Upon his return from Iraq, he would be reassigned and become the Battalion Fire Support Officer for 1-506IN “Currahee.” Following his tenure as the FSO for 1-506IN, CPT Hunter would assume command of HHB, 2-32FAR and relinquished command in FEB 2021. After relinquishing command of HHB, 2-32FAR, CPT Hunter would then be selected to command HHB, 101ST Division Artillery (DIVARTY), to which he would command for 12 months. During those 12 months, CPT Hunter would rapidly deploy his battery to multiple geographical locations ISO named operations, to include Poland and Romania.
