Profile

MSG Paul J. Murray is a native of Fargo, ND. He entered the service in June of 2001 and attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Georgia as an Infantryman. MSG Murray has held various leadership positions from Team Leader to First Sergeant. Military assignments include B Co 2BN 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment 82nd Airborne Division Fort Bragg from 2002-2004; B Co 2BN 506th Regimental Combat Team 101st Airborne Division (AASLT) Fort Campbell, KY 2004-2007 as a Fire Team Leader; Attack Company 2BN 1st Infantry Regiment 2nd Infantry Division Fort Lewis, WA from 2007 to 2013 as a Squad Leader and Company Intelligence Support NCO; D Co 2BN 19th Infantry Regiment Fort Benning, Georgia from 2013-2016 as a Senior Drill Sergeant; D Co 1BN 145th Aviation Regiment Fort Rucker, AL as an Aviation BOLC (basic officer leader course) instructor from 2016-2019; and C Troop 1st Squadron, 32d Calvary Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team 101st Airborne Division (AASLT) Fort Campbell, KY from 2019-2022 as a Platoon Sergeant and First Sergeant. MSG Murray currently serves as a Military Science Instructor at Clemson University ROTC. Military education includes Airborne School, Air Assault School, Basic Leader Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Company Intelligence Support Team Course, Drill Sergeant School, Senior Leaders Course, Pathfinder, Tactical Combative's Course, Rappel Master, Master Leader Course, and the First Sergeant/Commanders Course. Awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal with 6- Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Achievement Medal with 2- Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Good Conduct Medal 7th Award, the National Defense Service Ribbon, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with 3-CS, the Iraq Campaign Medal with 3-CS, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the NCO Professional Development Medal with numeral 4 device, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon with numeral 3 device, the NATO Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, the Expert Infantry Badge, the Pathfinder Badge, the Parachutist Badge, the Air Assault Badge, Basic Army Instructor Badge, the Drill Sergeant Badge. He is a recipient of the National Infantry Associations Legionnaire Order of Saint Maurice Medal and Guardian Order of Saint Michael Medal. MSG Murray has five combat deployments which include Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan (2002-2003), Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq (2004), Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq (2005-2006), Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan (2009-2010), and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan (2012).
