Our Horses
The CU Equine Center is home to roughly 50 horses comprised of those both owned by and leased to Clemson University. We also have a small number of boarded horses owned by both students and staff. Our Clemson herd includes Quarter Horses, Thoroughbreds, Appendix, Paints, Warmbloods, and a few Ponies and range from newborn foals to seniors.
Young Horses
All young horses are born and raised at the Equine Center. Each youngster is bred with the intent to market and sell as a performance horse prospect. Additional sale information can be found by emailing CUEC@clemson.edu

Broodmares
The Broodmare herd at the CU Equine Center is comprised of a small but mighty group of mares. Chosen specifically for their pedigrees, performance history, and student-friendly disposition, these mares are the true backbone of our breeding program. The CU Equine Center accepts mares on donation on a case by case basis.
Learn MoreRiding/Teaching Horses
The riding and teaching horses of the CU Equine Center are responsible for the endless learning opportunities on our farm. With a combination of Clemson-owned and leased horses, we boast a variety of ages, breeds, and levels within this group. All potential riding and teaching horses must be accepted on a care-lease prior to being accepted for donation. For more information on our lease-to-donate program, please email cuec@clemson.edu.
