Major Discovery Night
Your Future in Engineering:
Major Exploration
The General Engineering department's key annual event is Major Discovery Night, an engineering major exploration event hosted along with Tau Beta Pi, the Engineering Honor Society. Students have the opportunity to speak with alumni across a variety of roles who can guide them on professional experiences across fields. Faculty and staff from each of the undergraduate departments in the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences attend and can offer additional benefits to each program.

Why Should I Attend?
Typically hosted in the spring, this event gives the General Engineering cohort a unique opportunity to acquire insight into numerous career fields and help them make a more definitive choice about their future.
- Explore Options: Gain firsthand insight into various engineering disciplines offered at Clemson, helping you make an informed decision about your future major.
- Meet Faculty: Interact directly with professors and department representatives, allowing you to ask specific questions about different engineering paths.
- Career Insights: Learn about potential career paths and job opportunities associated with different engineering specialties.
- Program Information: Get information about research opportunities and special programs within each engineering discipline

An additional bonus to attending the event is networking - start building relationships with peers and faculty that could benefit you throughout your college career and beyond.
- Industry Insights: Engage with industry representatives who can provide real-world perspectives on various engineering fields and current market trends.
- Alumni Success Stories: Hear firsthand from Clemson engineering graduates about their career journeys and how their chosen majors shaped their professional paths.
A standout feature of the Major Discovery Night is the opportunity to connect with Clemson engineering alumni. These graduates, having once walked the same paths you're considering, offer a unique blend of nostalgia and practical advice, recounting how their Clemson education prepared them for successful careers. By engaging with these alumni, you'll gain authentic perspectives on how different engineering majors translate into real-world applications.
Their presence not only showcases the strong Clemson network but also provides you with examples of different career paths that await Clemson engineering graduates.
“I got the chance to interact with many future engineers and address their questions about the field. I welcome any chance to discuss what I love about site design and working for my company, but getting to do so at my alma mater made it all the more special!”
