Declare A Minor
SPECIALIZE YOUR DEGREE Mechanical Engineering students can complete an academic minor to supplement the skills and knowledge acquired in their major degree program. Minor requirements vary; each minor requires at least 15 credit hours in the secondary discipline. In minors closely related to ME, some required minor courses may also fulfill a BSME requirement. Completion of a minor appears on the student’s official transcript and diploma.

The first thing you should do is consider your career goals – how would declaring a minor enable you to achieve your goals? Talk to your advisor to see what a good fit for you might be. Several minors overlap with the ME undergraduate degree requirements.

A minor consists of at least 15 semester hours, with no fewer than nine credits at the 3000 level or higher. Some courses in the minors have prerequisite courses, and students should take any prerequisite courses as early as possible.
