Employment Opportunities

Clemson started with a graduating class of 37 in 1896. Today, Clemson University has become a strong force in higher education and gained national recognition in areas from academics to athletics. Throughout the past decade, the University has consistently been ranked among the top 25 public institutions by U.S. News & World Report. During this time, the number of student admission applications and prospective employee applications have almost doubled, and the number of graduate degrees awarded has more than doubled.

It’s a great time to be a Clemson Tiger, and it’s a great time to be part of the Department of Genetics and Biochemistry.

Current Faculty Openings

Postdoctoral Fellow

The Lewis Lab in the Department of Genetics and Biochemistry at Clemson University is recruiting an evolutionary genomics postdoctoral researcher as part of an NSF-funded project to study adaptation in butterflies. This research will build on substantial preliminary data to study adaptive evolution of sexual dimorphisms, adaptation to local environments, and wing color pattern evolution.

The postdoc will work with the PI to develop a research program that includes their own interests. Projects may include travel to Central and South America. This position is currently supported for up to three years, with the possibility of further support for additional postdoctoral study. Assistance will be provided for independent postdoc fellow applications.

The Lewis Lab, located within the Department of Genetics and Biochemistry within the College of Science at Clemson University, uses functional genomics (RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, Hi-C), whole genome sequencing and CRISPR to identify the molecular mechanisms and evolutionary processes that underlie adaptive evolution.

Assistant Professor

The Department of Genetics and Biochemistry at Clemson University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level, with an expected start date of August 2025. For full consideration, applications should be received by November 1, 2024.
