Science Genetics and Biochemistry Operations Account
Our highest priority is to build this foundation account to support excellence in the research, teaching and community engagement missions of the Department of Genetics and Biochemistry. Funds are used to support student activities and awards, special events to celebrate accomplishments, and educational priorities. Gifts here support broad success across the department.
Champ M. (’39) and Alma Brooks “Brooksie” Young Jones Scholarship Endowment
Champ Jones Sr., Ph.D., graduated from Clemson College in 1939. After earning his master’s at Cornell, he married Brooksie, and began a 34 year career at Clemson, interrupted only by his Ph.D. program at Michigan State, 1950–52. He taught genetics and agronomy until his retirement. This fund supports need-based undergraduate scholarships in genetics and was created by their children.
Gianni Mongelluzzo Memorial Scholarship Endowment
This fund was established in memory of Gianni Mongelluzzo who died while a student at Clemson. He had big dreams to change the world, and his legacy will support students with the same dream. His parents, sister and many family members and friends support this scholarship for students enrolled or enrolling in the department.
Seifert Family Annual Scholarships for Genetics and Biochemistry
Established by the parents of Clarice Seifert Clemmens ’05 and Bryce Seifert ’07, this scholarship supports undergraduate students enrolled or enrolling in the department.
Dr. William R. Marcotte Outstanding Undergraduate Research Award
Named for the long-time department chair of the Department of Genetics and Biochemistry, this fund supports an award to top undergraduate student(s) in the disciplines. It is awarded annually in spring.
EPIC (Eukaryotic Pathogens Innovations Center)
This unrestricted fund supports work in EPIC, where faculty and student research is at the forefront of biomedical research on eukaryotic pathogens. These pathogens cause some of the most devastating illnesses in humans such as malaria, amoebic dysentery, and fungal meningitis.
Center for Human Genetics Annual Fund
This unrestricted fund supports work at the Clemson Center for Human Genetics, the Greenwood, South Carolina, home for Clemson. It is an innovation campus for research and education where faculty and students work to unravel the secrets of human illness.
