Current Faculty Openings
Associate Professor
The School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at Clemson University is seeking talented individuals for a tenured or tenure-track faculty position starting August 15, 2025. The position is geared towards individuals with expertise in statistics, and research interests in uncertainty quantification, design and analysis of computer experiments, topological data analysis and/or closely related fields. Recruiting will begin at the associate professor rank, but exceptional candidates for the rank of assistant professor will also be considered.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in statistics and other related areas that are typically taught by faculty within the statistics and operations research division of the school. Specific desirable attributes for candidates include strong interest in: collaboration with faculty members within the school, interdisciplinary work with subject-matter researchers throughout the university, and building industrial partnerships.

Associate Director of Research

This position is part of the SMSS strategy to support the university’s strategic goal of doubling research by 2035. Open Rank Professor
Clemson University invites applications for an open rank professor (tenure-track assistant professor or tenured associate or full professor) at the Center for Human Genetics, with an expected start date of August 2025. Clemson University offers competitive salaries, benefits and start-up funds.
The successful applicant will have an accomplished research record at the forefront of human computational/statistical genetics and genomics. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, quantitative genetics, statistical genetics, systems genetics of complex traits and inference of gene regulatory networks from single cell multiome data. Strong candidates will be able to develop, evaluate, prototype and ultimately implement cutting-edge statistical, computational and machine learning/artificial intelligence methods for the integrative analysis of large-scale genetic and genomic data. However, all computational research areas with the potential to significantly advance the field of human genetics will be considered.
The successful applicant will be part of a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment that includes the research, diagnostic and clinical geneticists at the Greenwood Genetic Center; the genetics, genomics, statistics and bioinformatics faculty at Clemson University; the USC School of Medicine in Greenville; and the Prisma Health System.

Postdoctoral Fellow
The School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences is recruiting for two postdoctoral fellow positions. These positions are nine-month positions (August 15–May 15) with job duties consisting of teaching two courses per semester, conducting research and light service duties. The appointments are initially for two semesters (August 15, 2025–May 15, 2026) but are renewable for two additional years contingent upon funding and performance. The targeted research areas are computational mathematics, analysis, and algebra and discrete mathematics. Candidates with strong potential for successful collaboration with current faculty in the division of mathematics will be given highest consideration.
