History of the Andrew P. Calhoun Family Plot

The Andrew Pickens "A. P." Calhoun family plot sits atop the cemetery and is enclosed by an iron fence. Within the family plot are 18 known burials belonging to Andrew Pickens “A. P.” Calhoun, his second wife Margaret Green Calhoun, and their descendants. A.P. Calhoun was the eldest son of John. C. Calhoun, who is buried in the St. Phillip’s Episcopal Church cemetery in Charleston, South Carolina. A.P. Calhoun’s mother, Floride Bonneau Colhoun Calhoun, is buried in the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church cemetery in Pendleton, South Carolina, as are his brother-in-law Thomas Green Clemson and his sister Anna Calhoun Clemson. A.P. Calhoun’s son, John Caldwell Calhoun, who was six months old when he died in 1837, was likely the first Calhoun family burial in this family plot. The most recent Calhoun family burial took place in 2016 for A.P. Calhoun's great-grandson and namesake Andrew Pickens Calhoun Jr. Twelve unmarked graves were recently recovered through ground penetrating radar (GPR) within the A. P. Calhoun family plot. We do not know who is buried in these graves.
