Eligibility
An applicant’s character, reputation and personal life (as evidenced by references or inquiry) must demonstrate integrity and reflect potential leadership capability. Participants will be chosen based on their leadership potential, career stage and characteristics such as communication skills, integrity, growth potential and analytical skills. Applicants must be at least 28 years old by March 31st, 2024.
Applicants should be a U.S. citizen; and a resident of South Carolina and be fully engaged in an aspect of South Carolina agriculture, forestry or natural resources/environmental stewardship. other out-of-state residents or international applicants with verified documentation and confirmed resident activity/employment in South Carolina, may be considered based on a review of the applicants qualifications.
Applicants should apply individually. Spouses will not be selected to participate in the same class.
Applicant must demonstrate leadership qualities and potential evidenced by community, political or organizational activities. The qualities listed below are traits desired in each candidate.

There are no specific education requirements, however applicant must demonstrate their ability to participate meaningfully in learning seminars, outside reading, written assignments, and thorough self-expression during the selection interview. Applicants must have a willingness to travel throughout South Carolina and neighboring states.
Applicants must have the ability to be absent from their work, families, and other activities as required by the PLEAF program.
Applicants must testify and confirm the consent of participation in PLEAF from employer (unless self-employed) and spouses/family and significant others in your life (if applicable). These key relationships have been apprised of the required commitments of time and travel required by the program.
