Honors Graduation Requirements

Congratulations!

An Honors student with his mother posing together with his Honors certificate in front of an Honors College backdrop display.

Honors graduates who complete (at minimum) a General, Departmental, or Interdisciplinary Honors program have the option of participating in two graduation ceremonies.

Every year, Clemson Honors hosts a distinction ceremony where students who complete a General, Departmental, or Interdisciplinary Honors program are presented with a Clemson Honors medallion, which can be worn during the graduation ceremony.

All graduating Clemson Honors students are also welcome to participate in the Clemson University graduation ceremony.

  • Honors Distinction Verification Form

The Honors College requires all graduating Honors students (active or presently inactive), who have successfully completed Honors requirements for the distinctions below, to complete the Honors Distinction Verification Form during the semester of their anticipated graduation. The form will open for December 2024 graduates on August 15, 2024.

    Honors distinctions are:

    • General Honors
    • Departmental Honors
    • Interdisciplinary Honors
    • General Honors and Departmental Honors
    • General Honors and Interdisciplinary Honors

This form should be completed no later than the Clemson University Graduation Application deadline for the semester of graduation.

Do not be late in submitting your Honors Distinction Form. Failure to do so may result in your not receiving your certificate and medallion before graduation. It may also prevent your diploma/transcript from reflecting your Honors credit as well.

You will receive a confirmation email within 4 weeks from submission of your Honors Candidacy Form (except for August, which will be within 2 weeks).

If you do not receive a verification email, it is your responsibility to send an email to our Honors Advising team checking on the status of your form.

  • Clemson Honors Distinction Ceremony

The Honors Distinction Ceremony is only for students who have (at the minimum) completed General, Departmental or Interdisciplinary Honors.

You will receive an invitation by email to attend.

When completing the Honors Distinction Verification Form, you will be asked to upload a picture of yourself that will be shared during the ceremony (and that your family and friends will see!).

  • Stoles

The Honors College does not have a stole.

Omicron Delta Kappa is the organization through which you find information about available stoles.

Please note that they have a STRICT DEADLINE FOR ORDERING STOLES and you need to order them early.

You will also receive a medallion from the Honors College to wear at graduation.
