Introduction: Hi! My name is Bailey Curran! I am a sophomore Health Science major with a concentration in Pre-Professional Studies from Memphis, Tennessee. My future goals consist of becoming a dentist and opening my own pediatric practice. My interests include spending time outside, training for a half marathon, spending time with my friends and going to coffee shops. I would love to answer any questions you may have or tell you more about my time at Clemson! Please feel free to reach out; I would love to talk with you!
Ask me about...: The best places to do work on campus, my favorite things about Clemson, and where to get the best ice cream!
My advice for prospective students: My biggest advice for prospective students would be to get involved in everything possible when you get here! Coming into Clemson, I knew nobody. I was able to spread my wings and meet new people through the clubs and organizations I joined! Going to college can be intimidating, but it is truly an exciting time, so enjoy it! It is also important to remember that you are not alone! Every other high school senior or first-year college student is in the same position as you are!
My advice for current students: I would tell current students that organization is the key to success! Time management is crucial for college, and a great way to do that is by keeping an organized calendar of all your due dates and essential tasks so that you can plan ahead. It is also important to take time for yourself! Maintaining a balance between school and taking care of yourself is how you’re going to be the best version of yourself and thrive!
Why I chose Clemson and the Honors College: Being from Tennessee, I knew nothing about Clemson. However, after taking a tour, I was convinced I was meant to go to Clemson! From the rigorous academics to school spirit and welcoming community, I knew Clemson was where I wanted to spend the next four years! Coming from a small school with less than 100 students in my grade, the idea of coming to Clemson was a little daunting. I chose the Honors College because it was an excellent opportunity to form a smaller community with other students enthusiastic about engaging with their academics on a deeper level. The discussion-based classes and many benefits (such as access to multiple study spaces, early class registration, and the Honors Residential College) also helped me choose the Honors College.
My favorite thing about the Honors College: My favorite thing about the Honors College is its close-knit community. I have gotten to know all of my Honors professors personally. All the Honors professors are enthusiastic and knowledgeable about their fields and want to share with their students. I love how my Honors classes encourage deep thought and discussion among students. I have made countless friends through the Honors College and have been given multiple opportunities for academic, career and personal growth through my participation in the Honors College. I could talk about my Honors College experience for hours and could not recommend it to prospective students enough!
My involvement in the Honors College: I love how many opportunities the Honors College has to get involved! I have taken advantage of multiple opportunities to get involved given to me by the Honors College and will continue to be involved in the Honors College. I participated in the Clemson University Honors College mentor program in my first year. This year, I participated in the Seniors Advising Sophomore Honors program. Both of these programs have been great resources for me as I navigate my academics, the transition to college and now looking towards post-grad. Additionally, I am a Clemson University Honors College Wellness Ambassador. As a Wellness Ambassador, I plan fun events for Honors College students that focus on the eight dimensions of wellness.
My involvement in Clemson University: A significant part of why I love Clemson so much is because of the organizations I am a part of! I recently became a Tour Guide with the Clemson University Guide Association (CUGA). Additionally, I am a member of Delta Delta Delta and a member of the philanthropy committee for my sorority. I am also a graduate of the Greek Emerging Leaders program. I'm a member of numerous honor societies, such as Alpha Lambda Delta Honors Society and Eta Sigma Gamma. I am also a volunteer for Clemson's on-campus food pantry, Paw Pantry. I participate in the Tigers for Babies club, the Pre-Occupational Therapist and Speech-Language Pathology club, and Intramural soccer.
Orange or purple?: Purple
Favorite place on campus: During the warm months, I can be found doing schoolwork outside of C.O.R.E. Starbucks while enjoying the beautiful South Carolina weather! You’ll typically find a friend of mine, or two, sitting with me as well!
Three interesting facts about me: 1. I have an identical twin! 2. I lived in Canada for 3 years! 3. I was in a Japanese immersion program in Kindergarten.
My future goals: In the future, I want to attend dental school and pursue a career in pediatric dentistry. Pediatric dentistry combines my interests of working with children and a passion for Health Sciences.
