Introduction: Hi!! My name is Greer Younghans, and I am a sophomore Language (Spanish) and International Business Major. I am from Camden, South Carolina. I love to play golf, snowboard, spend time with family and friends, and the beach (especially Edisto)! I am planning on attending law school after Clemson.
Ask me about...: Clemson Panhellenic, the best coffee shops for studying, and studying abroad
My advice for prospective students: Get involved as much as you can!
My advice for current students: Listen to Beethoven while studying! Trust me- don't knock it until you try it.
Why I chose Clemson and the Honors College: I chose Clemson University because I grew up attending Clemson Football games, Clemson soccer camp, and other activities here because my parents went to Clemson. My mom is from South Carolina, and my dad is from New Jersey, but Clemson was always home. I toured every school you can think of, but I always knew Clemson was the place for me. I have three siblings, and two of them are also students at Clemson. I chose Clemson University Honors College because of the amazing opportunities available and the community of people who challenge students to be the best version of themselves. I was eager to get involved and challenged academically, so I knew the Honors College was the right choice.
My favorite thing about the Honors College: The genuine and enthusiastic support system, who are available to help in any way!
My involvement in the Honors College: I am an Honors College Student Ambassador. This year, I am taking an Honors Creative Inquiry called Golf Tournament Management, where my class and I plan and market a golf tournament for the entire semester and then hold the actual tournament at the end.
My involvement in Clemson University: I am a member of Alpha Delta Pi, and I am the Vice President of Panhellenic Relations. Last year, I was the Academic Specialist, which helped me to learn about my current position as VPPR. I am in Women in Business and the William T. Howell Pre-Law Society. Additionally, I enjoy attending FCA and playing intramural soccer, basketball, and flag football!
If I could travel anywhere: If I could travel anywhere, I would go to Africa. Africa is unlike any other place I have visited, and it would be a completely different experience. I’ve always wanted to go on a safari and ride a camel through the Sahara Desert.
My favorite Clemson class: My favorite class I have taken at Clemson is American Military History. I took this class last year as a first-year student. All the students in my class were seniors and juniors, and I was very intimidated. I have always been interested in history/government, so I plan on attending law school. This was the most interesting class I have ever taken, and we learned about the Marines mostly. My professor was in the Marines, so we got to hear his perspective. At the end of the semester, I wrote a 12-page paper on the Marines, and it is one of the assignments I am most proud of. No matter what major, I recommend this class to anyone because of the knowledge and insight gained on American history.
Three interesting facts about me: 1. My siblings and I owned a pinestraw business in high school 2. I used to go to San Diego and surf 3. I was a dockhand at a marina in Charleston this summer while I lived there
What are your plans after graduation?: I plan to attend law school and live in a city like Charleston or Washington, D.C., after that!
