Introduction: Hi! My name is Megan Checola and I am a Sophomore Psychology Major with a Minor in Human Resource Management. Coming from Long Island, New York, I was a little nervous about going so far from home, but Clemson quickly became my favorite place in the world! Other than being involved in the Honors College, I am also a part of CUGA (Clemson University Guide Association), Alpha Chi Omega, and Alpha Lambda Delta! Following my years at Clemson, I plan to attend Graduate school and attain a job in Human Resources!
Ask me about...: Ask me about CUGA! This organization is probably one of my favorite things about Clemson. CUGA has not only improved my knowledge of our amazing school but also introduced me closer to so many amazing people here!
My advice for prospective students: Everything works itself out! I fully believe that if you put full effort into something that’s the most you can do that is in your control! While things are extremely overwhelming right now, it's best to know that everything happens for a reason and will fall into place!
My advice for current students: Get involved! No matter what your interests are there will always be something for you here at Clemson. It’s never too late to put yourself out there and join an organization or student group. The people you will meet along with the experience you’ll gain are things that will stay with you long past your time in college!
Why I chose Clemson and the Honors College: I chose Clemson University and its Honors College because of the unmatched sense of belonging I felt during my visit, along with its tradition of academic excellence and vibrant community. The Honors College’s unique courses, research opportunities, and emphasis on leadership align perfectly with my goals of personal growth and meaningful impact.
My favorite thing about the Honors College: My favorite thing about the Honors College is the community that it fosters. The people I've met through this program are some of the most intelligent, driven, and innovative people I know. I feel consistently motivated to get involved and put my best foot forward with them beside me!
My involvement in the Honors College: Along with being an Ambassador I am also currently doing an Honors Creative Inquiry working on the management and planning of charity golf tournament!
My involvement in Clemson University: Besides being an ambassador for the Honors College, I am also a tour guide here as a part of CUGA, along with being in Alpha Chi Omega, and Alpha Lambda Delta!
My favorite Clemson class: My favorite class was my honors course, "Who Decides What's Cool?" I absolutely loved this course along with my amazing teacher. This class taught me the overlap between marketing and psychology, and it was a pretty small class that was conversation driven. This class taught me to deeply analyze and make connections from each text or video clip we watched, while also allowing me to analyze this information in connection with my major!
