Introduction: Hi everyone! My name is Olivia Forti and I am from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I am a junior Biological Sciences major with a minor in Spanish studies. I hope to attend dental school after graduating from Clemson. Outside of academics, I love to run, go on walks with friends, spend time at the lake and beach, and take lots of pictures! As a Clemson Honors Ambassador, I am so excited to share my love for the Honors College with my fellow students.
Ask me about...: Tutoring at the Academic Success Center, living in the Honors dorms, Greek life, and the best spots to run in Clemson!
My advice for prospective students: Do not be afraid to be outgoing and go out of your comfort zone. I have found that going out of my comfort zone by joining organizations and taking classes that I never imagined turned out to be such an important part of my college experience.
My advice for current students: Appreciate every moment at Clemson because the time goes by very fast. Also, it is never too late to become involved, even if you are an upperclassmen!
Why I chose Clemson and the Honors College: Upon visiting Clemson during my junior year of high school, I immediately fell in love with the beautiful, walkable campus and plenty of places to run. Since my cousin also went to Clemson as a Biological Sciences major, I was able to hear about all of the incredible opportunities within the Biological Sciences department, such as creative inquiries and even pre-med and pre-dental classes. I later discovered all of the academic support I would receive, such as tutoring, PAL sessions, and professor-run exam reviews. To me, Clemson had it all, and the Honors College made it even more perfect. I chose Clemson Honors because of the community that I would be able to build, which made a large school like Clemson a lot less intimidating.
My favorite thing about the Honors College: What I love most about the Honors College are the enthusiastic and driven students and professors within the community. All of the students are always willing to learn and be their best selves, which allows me to be my best self. Everyone is also accommodating and encouraging, always giving me advice on not only my academics but extracurricular activities and life outside of school. Additionally, the professors are very reliable and want their students to succeed in their classes, which makes the Honors College a wonderful place to thrive and build connections.
My involvement in the Honors College: In addition to my role as an Honors student ambassador where I educate prospective Honors students and families about the Clemson Honors College, I lived in Cribb Hall during my freshman year and absolutely loved it!
My involvement in Clemson University: Being a Clemson tiger has allowed me to find what I am truly passionate about. In addition to my role as an Honors College Student Ambassador, I am involved in Greek life. I am a member of Kappa Delta Epsilon Tau, as well as the President of Fraternity and Sorority Life Wellness Advocates. This organization promotes healthy habits and educates about important issues within the Greek community. I am also the Officer of Public Relations for the Pre-Dental Club and a chemistry and biology tutor at the Academic Success Center.
My future goals: After graduating from Clemson, I hope to attend dental school. I have loved going to the dentist ever since I was little and have loved my experience of shadowing at different dental offices. Pediatric dentistry is my favorite specialty right now. I can confidently say that Clemson has prepared me extremely well so far and I am excited about my journey to dental school.
How has the Honors College made a difference in your life?: Being accepted into the Honors College during my senior year of high school is one of my greatest accomplishments. I feel so grateful to be a part of this wonderful community that encourages me to grow every day. Being in the Honors College has made me more confident in myself and has allowed me to succeed both as a student and as a person, as I am constantly surrounded by inspiring individuals who want me to succeed.
