Introduction: Hello! I’m Sophie Waugh, and I'm from Annapolis, Maryland. I’m a sophomore majoring in Microbiology with a Biomedicine concentration and minoring in Psychology. I’m also working on a certificate in Public Health Sciences. My goal is to work in public health, with plans to pursue a Master’s and possibly a Ph.D. in the future. Outside of academics, I love to run, do yoga and pilates, read, travel, hike, and I'm a major foodie. As an Honors College Ambassador, I’m thrilled to support fellow students on their academic journey and get them excited about Clemson Honors!
Ask me about...: Greek life on campus, getting involved in research, living on and off campus, and the best places to eat and shop in Clemson!
My advice for prospective students: Put yourself out there! Try everything, talk to everyone, and don't be afraid to do things that are outside of your comfort zone. You never know what might stick and who may become one of your best friends.
My favorite thing about the Honors College: Smaller class sizes with a greater focus on application of concepts learned in class to real life scenarios and an emphasis on building critical thinking skills.
My involvement in the Honors College: I was an honors peer mentor for incoming honors students my sophomore year and started as an honors ambassador spring of my sophomore year as well.
My involvement in Clemson University: Kappa Kappa Gamma, VP Operations for the College of Science Student Advisory Board, Clemson Microbiology Society
Three things I cannot live without: My pet corgi, coffee, and my best friends.
Favorite place on campus: Starbucks at Core campus! All my friends know that if they are looking for me, that's their best bet.
How has the Honors College made a difference in your life?: I have met like-minded best friends who are extremely hard working, motivating, and the kindest people to surround myself with. I've also connected with incredible professors who have challenged me to grow as a student and critical thinker.
