Introduction: Hi! I’m Mallie Pennington, a sophomore Marketing major from Raleigh, NC. I’ve always had a passion for art—I grew up selling commissioned paintings, mostly pet portraits, but I especially love drawing people. Creativity is a big part of who I am, and I hope to bring that artistic perspective into my future career in marketing. When I’m not painting, you can usually find me at a yoga class—it’s my go-to for clearing my mind and staying focused on what matters (like school!). I’m so excited to be an Honors Ambassador and share my experiences with others!
Ask me about...: Ask me about anything! Greek life on campus, clubs you can join, anything art-related, or the best places to eat in Clemson! As an Honors Ambassador, I hope to help future students find their place at Clemson, just like I did.
My advice for prospective students: You will end up where you are meant to be—everything works out for a reason. Accepting that you can't control everything is part of life; instead, focus on what you can control.
My advice for current students: Always, always, ALWAYS put yourself out there. Ask questions, introduce yourself to new people—you never know who you’ll meet!
Why I chose Clemson and the Honors College: I chose the Clemson Honors College because it challenges me to grow while providing the support I need to succeed. It pushes me to step outside my comfort zone, encouraging me to work harder and strive for more—without ever making me feel overwhelmed.
My favorite thing about the Honors College: The community—some of my very best friends are in the Honors College with me!
My involvement in Clemson University: I serve as Vice President of Member Development for Kappa Kappa Gamma and have a Marketing & Sales Internship with University Tees at Clemson.
If I could travel anywhere: I would go to the Vatican—I’ve been there before, but I could literally sit in the Sistine Chapel for hours and hours. Michelangelo is my favorite artist of all time!
My favorite Clemson class: Taking HON 2230 - Public Speaking was my favorite class. Public speaking USED to be my biggest fear, but speaking every week made it easier. Now, it feels natural!
What makes me happy to be alive: Painting and creating art—it makes me feel truly present in the moment.
Favorite place on campus: You can most likely find me at any Starbucks on campus!
My future goals: To be as strong of a woman as my mother and anywhere close to as hardworking.
How has the Honors College made a difference in your life?: It has pushed me to be a better version of myself. Being part of the Clemson Honors College reassures me that I can do this—I was chosen to be here, so I know I can take on hard things!
