Profile/About Me
Dr. Casabianca received her B.S. in Chemistry from Rice University. She did a Ph. D. in Physical Chemistry with Prof. Angel C. de Dios at Georgetown University. She then did a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago with Prof. Yoshitaka Ishii working on solid-state NMR of materials, and one at the Weizmann Institute of Science with Prof. Lucio Frydman working on DNP of rare nuclei. She joined the faculty at Clemson in 2014 and was promoted to associate professor with tenure in 2020.
Research Interests
Research in the Casabianca lab is focused on developing NMR methods for studying interactions between nanomaterials and biologically-relevant molecules. Our group uses a variety of NMR techniques including experimental solution and solid-state NMR, calculated chemical shifts, and Dynamic Nuclear Polarization. Our work is multidisciplinary and has applications in the fields of drug delivery, biomedical devices, materials science, and nanomaterials toxicity.
