Strategic Planning
Clemson University’s Division of Student Affairs recognizes the interconnectedness of finances, human resources, and assessment in strategic planning. Student Affairs Business Operations supports the division’s departments and their objective to create a culture of evidence and continuous improvement. The SABO team serves to facilitate strategic planning for departments grounded in principles of lean management, academic quality improvement, and best practices in financial management, human resources, and assessment.
Beginning in fall 2018, departments participated in a value mapping process that allowed for staff to:

Reevaluate and identify of department’s core functions

Reveal and examine redundancies or duplications

Connect work of each department and person to divisional and institutional goals

Drive human and financial resource realignment

Revise annual assessment reports for the division and institution
