New Student Information
We are excited you are joining the Master of Real Estate Development Program! Congratulations on your acceptance. The following enrollment steps, in conjunction with the Graduate School's New Student Checklist are provided to assist you in the onboarding process. The steps in this checklist include a lot of pertinent information to becoming a successful graduate student.
As a Clemson student, you should familiarize yourself with all current Graduate School Policies and Procedures, as well as form deadlines and graduation timelines.

Accept Admissions Offer (timely)
To accept your admission offer, access Clemson's Application Portal and select "Manage Your Account," then follow the instructions on that page.
Activate Your Clemson Username and Password (timely)
3-5 days after you accept your offer of admission you will receive an email from the Graduate School with instructions on accessing your Clemson username and password. Follow the instructions as soon as you receive the email.
To activate your Clemson University Username:- You will need your Clemson University XID# which can be found in your acceptance letter. XID numbers begin with "C" and have 8 digits (e.g., C12345678).
- You will need your username activation code, which will be emailed to you. Please note that you may receive this email several days after you receive your acceptance letter. If you need this information to be re-sent, please contact the Graduate School Admissions Office or Clemson IT Support (CCIT). Then, you can proceed with authenticating your Clemson University username and creating your password.
- After setting up your username and password, you must register with Duo to set up two-factor authentication. Duo is the dual-authentication mobile app that Clemson University uses for enhanced web security. This step should be done before setting up your email. Duo Instructions can be found here: ccit.clemson.edu/support/faculty-staff/two-factor-authentication.
IMPORTANT: Once you have completed steps 1 - 4, completely CLOSE YOUR BROWSER and open a new session before continuing to email set-up.
Set Up Clemson Email (timely)
Clemson email addresses are in the format <username@clemson.edu>. In partnership with Google, Clemson offers students Google Apps for Education accounts. This account has already been created with your Clemson username: all you need to do is set up your account and password.- Instructions for setting up your Google Apps for Education email account can be found here: www.clemson.edu/ccit/email_accounts/email/google/setup.html
- If you'd prefer to opt-out of using Google Apps for Education and instead use another email service, instructions on how to do that are here: www.clemson.edu/ccit/help_support/new_to_cu/#Email
Check Your Residency Status
Please check your Residency Status in iRoar as soon as possible. The Residency Application can be found online here. If you are listed as "In Question," or if you are incorrectly marked "Out-of-State," you will need to complete an application. If you feel that you have been listed incorrectly, you WILL need to contact the Residency Office. Visit their website for more information: www.clemson.edu/financial-aid/residency/index.html.
NOTE: It is important to complete the residency application as soon as possible if you are required to do so. This process can take up to six weeks to complete.
Provide Legal Presence Documentation
Documentation must be uploaded electronically through the Legal Presence Documentation Portal. For more information: See Legal Presence for a complete list of documents accepted as proof of U.S. citizenship.
Apply for Financial (if applicable)
If you need financial aid, you may be eligible for a federal Stafford loan. You can apply to FAFSA. -
Next Steps
Immunization Forms
All new or transfer students are required to complete the Student Immunization Form and provide written proof of required immunizations by July 1 for the Fall semester or December 1 for the Spring semester. Please see Clemson's official Immunization Policy here.
Submit Official Transcripts
Official transcripts are only required of those applicants who are offered admission. Therefore, upon receiving official notice of acceptance to the Graduate School, you should request official transcripts from all previous degree granting institutions and any other previous academic work.
Transcripts are considered official only if they meet one of the following requirements:- Are received by the Graduate Admissions Office in a sealed envelope from the issuing institution.

Are received electronically directly from your institution's Registrar's Office (U.S. institutions only). To submit a secure (passcode required) final official transcript electronically, directly from your institution's Registrar's Office, please use the following email address: gstranscripts@clemson.edu (all other inquiries should be directed to grdapp@clemson.edu).
- The title of the degree earned and the date awarded must be noted to be considered a final official transcript. Official certificates or diplomas in sealed envelopes from the issuing institution should accompany any transcripts that do not note the degree earned and date awarded directly on the transcripts.
NOTE: A registration hold will be placed on all students who have not submitted final official transcripts during their first term.
Transcript Translations
English translations of all international transcripts are required. Translations are accepted from the issuing institution or translations provided by any NACES or AICE recognized credential evaluation service. Some do not provide translations. Three companies that do provide transcript translations are SpanTran (requests for translations/verifications should be sent to intake@spantran.com, Josef Silny & Associates, and Scholaro Translation, but you are welcome to use any NACES- or AICE-recognized company. Clemson does not endorse any particular company.

The Assistant Director of Student Services will contact you via your Clemson email address soon after acceptance regarding course registration and advising. Appointments can take place in person or by phone. To prepare for your advising appointments, it will help to become familiar with the iROAR platform.Who is my Advisor?

Before Starting Classes

If you have a smartphone and will be taking any in-person classes, we ask that you download the Alertus+ app. Any emergency notifications for the Greenville ONE building will come through this application.Follow these steps to set up Alertus+:
- Download Alertus+ from the app store
- Organization code: clemson
- Email: your Clemson email address
- Alertus will send a verification email
- Once verified, go to "subscription" and select Greenville ONE
How to Purchase Textbooks
You may choose to buy textbooks after attending the first class or after hearing from the professor, but if you would like to purchase textbooks before the first day, you can use the Clemson Bookstore tool to find which books are required for each class. Textbooks can be purchased from the Clemson Bookstore or outside vendors (such as Amazon or eBay).Review Clemson's Academic Calendar

IMPORTANT REMINDER: MRED Program classes begin in Second Summer Session, prior to the start of the fall academic semester. The Program follows the standard CU Academic calendar for fall and spring semesters.Review the Clemson Laptop Requirement

MRED Program orientation consists of an in-person orientation prior to the start of the fall semester at the Greenville ONE campus: 1 North Main Street, Greenville, SC 29601. You will receive a detailed itinerary for orientation as the date approaches.In addition to MRED orientation, newly accepted students will receive additional orientation onboarding requirements from the Graduate School-Newly Accepted Students, including a required virtual orientation. These requirements must also be completed prior to starting the program.
