Professor Miller began teaching geography at Clemson in 1980. He is a specialist in the peoples and cultures of the Middle East and North Africa. Dr. Miller taught courses in World Regional Geography, Political Geography, and the Geography of the Middle East and North Africa, among others. In addition to numerous articles and essays, he has published Imlil: A Moroccan Mountain Community in Change (1984), the geography textbook World Regional Geography: A Question of Place (1989); Sijilmasa: The Last Civilized Place (2015) University of Texas Press. Professor Miller is currently Executive Secretary of MACECE, the Moroccan American Commission for Educational and Cultural Exchange, and has also been a Foreign Service Officer in the U.S. Department of State and served in the Congo. He was on leave 2003-2006 serving as Director of the Center for Studies of the Maghrib (Centre des Etudes Maghrebines) in Tunis.
