About Undergraduate Learning at Clemson University
The modern land-grant research university has a tripartite mission of the discovery, dissemination, and application of knowledge to enrich the lives and livelihoods of our students, our state, and the world.
Undergraduate students grow through their participation in all aspects of this tripartite mission. They build a foundation of knowledge about themselves and the world around them through their classes. From this foundation, they engage in discovery and creative processes, thereby contributing to the advancement of knowledge – artistic, cultural, scientific, and technical. They then take this knowledge and apply it – through internships and cooperative education, outreach events, and service through partnerships with our communities. In doing so, they “learn by doing.”
Our students’ time at Clemson is an unparalleled opportunity for personal growth – social, emotional, academic, and professional. As they engage in a process of self-discovery, build lifelong friendships, develop their aspirations, and acquire competencies that will allow them to thrive and serve their communities, the Division of Undergraduate Learning is here to supports our students, staff, and faculty as we collectively strive to deliver the #1 Student Experience.
Our Mission
As champions of the undergraduate academic enterprise, we coordinate programs, services, and policies to deliver the Number 1 Student Experience. We seek to ensure every student can thrive, achieve their aspirations, and positively impact their communities. We do so by supporting the development of engaging experiential learning opportunities, rigorous and innovative curricula, fair and transparent academic policies, and inclusive and student-centered academic support.
Our Vision
The Clemson University Division of Undergraduate Learning will support the development of students into lifelong learners as they expand their knowledge, discover their goals, and actualize their values.
Celebrating New Beginnings
Convocation marks the beginning of each new academic year and the official start of our first-year students' academic journeys as Tigers. It's a special time at Clemson, and we celebrate this moment by bringing the entire first-year class together at Littlejohn Coliseum to gain encouragement and insight from President Clements, our athletic coaches and cheerleaders before having lunch together on the lawn.
