Research Interests

Dr. Omer Sadak’s research focuses on developing and applying innovative materials and technologies to advance packaging science, emphasizing multifunctional, intelligent packaging solutions. His work integrates 1D and 2D nanomaterials, such as single-walled carbon nanotubes, graphene-based and biochar-derived inks, into inkjet-printed sensors for various applications across food, agriculture, and healthcare industries. In addition to sensor technologies, Dr. Sadak explores the development of innovative materials and techniques for packaging applications.

Key areas of interest include:

Smart Packaging Technologies: Designing packaging systems with integrated sensors to monitor environmental and product-specific parameters like spoilage, contamination, pH, and temperature.

Advanced Materials for Sensing: Optimizing ink formulations to enhance sensor sensitivity, durability, and shelf life under various environmental conditions.

Sustainable Solutions: Photocatalytic degradation and upcycling of single-use plastics, particularly medical devices and packaging, to mitigate environmental impact.
