Profile
I am a Water Resources Agent for Clemson Extension. I serve as coordinator of Extension’s Post-Construction BMP Inspector program. This program trains professionals in methods and strategies for conducting routine and thorough inspections of stormwater management practices. I also serve as coordinator of Extension’s Carolina Clear program in Anderson County, where I partner with local communities to provide stormwater education, outreach, and public involvement opportunities to protect water resources.
Extension and Outreach
I am actively involved in the South Carolina Adopt-a-Stream (SC AAS) program as both a trainer and a volunteer. This program is comprised of a network of volunteers that monitor freshwater rivers and streams. SC AAS data are collected by trained citizen scientists. SC AAS currently certifies individuals to monitor physical and chemical parameters, as well as bacteria, typically taught in one training session.
SC AAS creates a network of watershed stewardship, engagement, and education through involvement. SC AAS volunteers can play an important role in monitoring and tracking water quality while sharing information about local water resources with their communities. In providing baseline information about stream conditions, volunteers, local communities, educators, and local government agencies can partner to protect and restore our waters. You do not need to be an environmentalist, fisherman, or scholar to join this effort. All are welcome to find more information, seek training, and add to the knowledge base of river health in South Carolina! Contact me for more information.
