Extension and Outreach
In 2013, I joined the Certified Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Inspector (CEPSCI) Team to manage and coordinate outreach efforts. This program, supported by South Carolina's Department of Health and Environmental Control, teaches and certifies those individuals seeking to inspect erosion prevention and sediment control best management practices on active construction sites. Currently, I teaching portions of this program and have been active in curriculum development. Additionally, I help manage and coordinate for the Certified Stormwater Plan Reviewer (CSPR) Program which trains and certifies individuals to review plans specific to construction projects which require the erosion prevention and sediment control practices as mentioned above. Currently, there are over 3,000 persons certified as inspectors through the CEPSCI program. I find that this is a very pro-active approach for the conservation of aquatic resources.
