Profile
Anaston Porter is the Water Resources Agent for Pickens County Clemson Extension. She received her degrees from Clemson University: B.S. in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology and a Masters in Agricultural Education. Anaston currently helps to coordinate and plan extension programming related to water quality in Pickens County. This includes supporting programs such as Carolina Clear and Anderson Pickens County Stormwater Partners Consortium throughout the county. Clemson Extension’s Carolina Clear program works to educate the citizens of South Carolina of issues associated with polluted stormwater runoff and raise awareness of actions and behaviors that ultimately protect our water resources. Carolina Clear provides trainings, workshops, resources, mass media campaigns, demonstration projects, and youth programs to meet the needs of our communities.
Anaston also coordinates the Carolina Yards Program through Clemson Extension. A statewide program designed to help South Carolinians conserve water and make positive changes to the environmental quality of their yards, neighborhoods, and surrounding waterways.
Mrs. Porter grew up in Pickens County and is excited to serve her hometown! Her previous roles included serving as the Education and Outreach Coordinator for Anderson/Pickens Soil and Water Conservation District, fisheries intern with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR), and interning with the Walhalla 4-H Office. She also assists with the Pickens County 4-H Wildlife Club.
