File a Formal Complaint

Our Process

A formal complaint is a document filed by a complainant or signed by the Title IX Coordinator alleging sexual harassment against a respondent and requesting that the school investigate the allegation of sexual harassment. The following requirements apply:

  1. When filing a formal complaint, the complainant must be participating in or attempting to participate in the education program or activity of the school with which the formal complaint is filed.
  2. A formal complaint may be filed with the Title IX Coordinator in person, by email at alesias@clemson.edu or by mail:
    Clemson University
    223 Brackett Hall
    Clemson, SC 29634

  3. A formal complaint must contain the complainant’s physical or digital signature or otherwise indicate that the complainant is the person filing the formal complaint.

  4. Where the Title IX Coordinator signs a Formal Complaint, the Title IX Coordinator is not a complainant or party during the grievance process and must comply with requirements for the Title IX Coordinator to be free from conflicts and bias.

Any individual who would like to initiate the Formal Title IX Complaint process and ask Clemson University to evaluate, investigate and adjudicate allegations of sexual harassment according to Title IX must complete, sign and submit a formal complaint.
