The Innovation Campus and Technology Park in Anderson, SC, is home to facilities such as Clemson’s Advanced Materials Research Laboratory (AMRL), The National Brick Research Center, Clemson Computing and Information Technology (CCIT), and offices for the Department of Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences (EEES).

 

Internationally Renowned Research in Upstate, South Carolina

Advanced Materials Research Laboratory

Clemson University is a leader in advanced materials research, which accounts for almost 30 percent of the University’s total research funding. Clemson has a significant track record as a resource for the advanced materials industry, with 14 startup companies and landing parties based on Clemson advanced materials expertise and more than 70 advanced materials-based technologies available for licensing.

Electron Microscopy Facility

Under Lax Saraf’s leadership, the Clemson Electron Microscopy Facility offers advanced microscopy and analytical services to a diverse range of industries and academic researchers, fostering innovation and collaboration with state-of-the-art instrumentation and expert support.

Center for Optical Materials Science and Engineering Technologies (COMSET)

The Center for Optical Materials Science and Engineering Technologies (COMSET), established in 2000, supports cross disciplinary research in advanced materials and light-based technologies. With a significant infrastructure, COMSET facilitates collaboration among faculty and addresses industry needs in research, workforce development and outreach.

Micro Fabrication Facility (within COMSET)

The Micro Fabrication Facility at Clemson University, part of COMSET at the Advanced Materials Research Lab, offers comprehensive microelectronic, optoelectronic and MEMS fabrication services to academic and industry researchers. Since its establishment in 2011, the facility has expanded to include advanced deposition and etching capabilities, supporting a wide range of electronic device fabrication.

Duke Energy Innovation Center

The Duke Energy Innovation Center is collaborative project between Clemson University and the South Carolina Research Authority (SCRA) providing incubator lab spaces for small companies, featuring shared conference rooms, restrooms, delivery docks and a lobby area.

CCIT Technology Center

The CCIT Information Technology Center acts as Clemson University’s primary data center. It houses most of the University’s centralized research and production systems.

L.G. Rich Environmental Laboratory

The Rich Lab offers extensive laboratory space and state-of-the-art instruments for sponsored research in various scientific fields, including radiochemistry and biotechnology. As part of this work, the neighboring lab, Clemson Engineering Technologies Laboratory (CETL), supports research in radioactive and mixed waste technology, with Clemson licensed to handle a wide range of radioactive materials.

National Brick Research Center

The National Brick Research Center provides research, education and services to the brick and ceramic materials industry, supporting both producers and users. Clemson researchers in the Center work to advance technology, enhance the education of engineering students and contribute to the economic success of its members through various specialized capabilities and services.
