Federal Relations

Clemson’s designation as a land-grant university establishes certain federally mandated missions and responsibilities. As a major research university, Clemson is eligible to compete annually for significant federal appropriations for research as well as for research funding expended by many federal agencies. It is the responsibility of the federal relations division of Governmental Affairs to identify these opportunities where the University has competency. In addition, the office identifies, tracks and attempts to affect all legislation and regulations that would impact Clemson.
