Profile

Dr. Vieira grew up in a 6th generation family ranch in Brazil, where he discovered his passion for soil science. Dr. Vieira holds a B.S. in Agronomy (Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Santa Catarina, Brazil), a M.S. in Soils and Plant Nutrition (University of São Paulo, Brazil), an MBA in Agribusiness (University of São Paulo, Brazil) and a Ph.D. in Soil and Water Sciences (University of Florida). His research and extension efforts have been mainly focused on soil fertility, plant nutrition, and water quality on grazingland ecosystems.

Research Interests

Dr. Vieira's primary research interests include soil nutrient management, plant nutrition, water quality, soil health and carbon dynamics.

Extension and Outreach

Dr. Vieira works under the supervision of Dr. Silva (Assistant Professor & Forage Extension Specialist) and will be assisting her on efforts related to the establishment and advancement of educational curriculum and resources pertaining to multi-disciplinary forage systems development.
