Institute on Teaching and Mentoring

The Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) Institute on Teaching and Mentoring provides an enriching source of empowerment and support for underrepresented minority Ph.D. scholars, marking its prominence as the nation's largest gathering of its kind. Over the past three decades, the Institute has been a catalyst for positive change, offering transformative workshops, recruitment initiatives and invaluable networking opportunities. With a steadfast commitment to nurturing the professional development of Ph.D. scholars, the Institute equips its members with practical tools essential for success as faculty in post-secondary institutions and various professional domains. This annual gathering serves two purposes: creating a secure space for doctoral scholars to exchange insights and survival strategies for navigating graduate work challenges while fostering a sense of community.
