Onboarding Checklist
Please complete all required tasks by the deadline provided. For questions, please contact Ask-HR.

First Things First
- Check your Clemson.edu email account for your welcome emails (contacthrsc@clemson.edu, SC Public Employee Benefit Authority (PEBA), Tiger Training, etc.)
- Review your Clemson User ID and Password Instructions needed for Clemson online access.
- Set up Duo Authorization Account. Duo, a Two-Factor Authorization setup, is required to access Clemson’s online systems.
Complete Within Days 1-5
- Complete your I-9 and provide all required I-9 Documents by your 3rd day of employment
- Form I-9
- This training provides guidance on completing your I-9 electronically.
- Purchase a Clemson Parking Permit (if needed)
- Attain your Tiger One Card, your official Clemson ID
- Register for New Employee Orientation
- Follow the steps on the Important Payroll Information for New Hires page to set up direct deposit and update your W-4 Tax Withholdings
Complete Within Your First 10 Days
- Check your Clemson email for important emails from PEBA. Prepare for your retirement and benefits enrollment by viewing these helpful resources.

- Set up your PEBA Accounts after you have made your benefit elections via the email link from PEBA:
Complete Within Your First 30 Days
- Complete enrollment in your PEBA Insurance and Retirement Plans BY THE 30-DAY DEADLINE
- PEBA myBenefits Enrollment
- PEBA Retirement Enrollment
- PEBA New Hire Benefit Enrollment Checklist
- You must enroll within your first 30 days. This is a firm deadline and cannot be changed.
- Complete all Required Training via Tiger Training
- Complete New Employee Orientation
Complete Post Benefit Enrollment (generally 7-10 days following your benefits enrollment)
- Verify the accuracy of your elections:
- MyBenefits - PEBA Insurance Portal
- Member Access - PEBA Retirement Portal
- Verify your payroll deductions are accurate by viewing your Benefits Summary on the home page in Employee Self Service
**Employees Transferring from Other State Agencies:
If you were previously enrolled in the PEBA-provided insurance and retirement with your previous State employer and you have not experienced a break in service longer than 15 days, your previously elected insurance and retirement benefits will be transferred through the PEBA system. You will receive two separate emails from PEBA for insurance and/or retirement. Use the enrollment links provided in the emails to review your current elections and confirm the transfer of your benefits.
If eligible, you may transfer your leave benefits by completing the New Employee Benefits Transfer Form. The form must be completed by your previous State employer and sent to empins@clemson.edu.
