Employee Service Award Program

Goal:

To recognize and show appreciation to those Clemson University employees who have demonstrated their interest in serving the citizens of South Carolina through continued employment in State government. Certificates and service pins are provided at the end of the month during which the service anniversary date resides in accordance with these guidelines.

Eligibility:

For those employees who are eligible, certificates and service pins are provided by Clemson University for all State employees who reach their 10th, 20th, 30th, 40th or 50th year of service. For the purpose of this program, all employment with the State will be cumulative. If an employee leaves State service and later is reemployed, whether by Clemson University or by a different State agency, the length of both periods of employment shall be added together in order to determine eligibility. However, only those periods where the employee was scheduled to work at least one-half of the normal workweek (37-1/2 hours) may be counted. Acceptable service toward a State service award does not include (a) public school teaching, (b) out-of-state service, (c) military service, either before or after one had become a State employee, and (d) time while on leave without pay status.

Awards:

The pins for all service milestones are of the same design. The metal used and the stones set on each pin will denote the years of service it represents as follows:

  • Ten Years - 1/10 10K Gold Filled
  • Twenty Years - 10K Gold with three amethysts
  • Thirty Years - 10K Gold with one diamond and two amethysts
  • Forty Years - 10K Gold with two diamonds and one amethyst
  • Fifty Years- 10K Gold with three diamonds
