Graduate Student Employment
Goal:
To establish guidelines for hiring a graduate student employee.
Definition:
There are several types of employment open to Graduate Students at Clemson University including: Departmental Graduate Assistantships, Graduate Resident Assistantships, International Student Employment, and Hourly Employment. The specific eligibility requirements, number of hours that may be worked, and any additional enrollment limits and/or benefits are outlined on the Graduate School’s Student Employment site.
Process:
Once the hiring department has offered the assistantship or part-time employment to a graduate student, the hiring department is responsible for ensuring all employment forms (Form I-9 (PDF), W4 Form, and Direct Deposit Forms) are completed and sent to the Office of Human Resources for entry into the Clemson University Business System prior to the student starting work.
