New Supervisor Training and Resources
Clemson is committed to providing the resources and development opportunities to support new supervisors in selecting, developing and managing the University’s workforce.
New Supervisor Training Requirements: Supervising for Success Program
The Supervising for Success program is designed specifically for the University's supervisors of staff to provide clear, standardized expectations and development opportunities. These sessions provide the necessary knowledge, skills and behaviors to ensure supervisors excel in their roles.
All new supervisors of staff are required to complete the Supervising for Success Program. The program will require supervisors to complete:
- Two brief, self-paced online training modules (within 30 days of hire or promotion)
- Seven instructor-led courses (within one year of hire or promotion)
- Law and policy
- Difficult conversations
- Managing staff performance concerns and misconduct
- Equitable treatment and civility in the workplace
- Implicit bias
- Standards of Ethical Conduct
The Tiger Training System will automatically enroll each new supervisor and provide links for session registration and ongoing reminders. We offer multiple sessions per course to allow participants greater opportunity and flexibility.
