Closed Courses

Every class at Clemson has a size limit. Once these limits are reached, the course is closed. If you want or need to take a course that has been closed, you may request to be added anyway or be added to the class's waitlist. Review our how-to instructions for each option below.

Get Added to the Waitlist

You may add yourself to the waitlist for a course but be sure to check your email regularly. You will receive an email notification when a seat has become available.

Be sure to register for the class within 24 hours of that email notification. If you do not register within 24 hours of notification, you will be removed from the waitlist automatically, and your spot will go to the next person on the list.

You may not waitlist a class if you are enrolled in another section of that class.

Request a Seat in a Closed Course

The Request a Seat in a Closed Course form is the University’s official way for you to request a seat in a course that is at full capacity. The tool allows departments to gauge unmet course demand. After completing the form, you will be contacted if the department is able to open additional sections or increase capacity.

Add yourself to the Request a Seat in a Closed Course list in iROAR 〉 Student Self-Service 〉 Student Registration 〉 Request a Seat in a Closed Course.

Please note:

  • This form should not be used as a means to request an override for course restrictions you do not meet.
  • Being added to a section is at the discretion of the individual department. The academic department cannot guarantee your choice of section will be granted.
