Transcripts and Records

Your transcript is the official record of your work and achievement at Clemson, displaying your courses taken and grades earned. You may be required to have an official transcript when applying to new job positions, scholarship programs and even for insurance and military purposes.

There are several ways to approach requesting a copy if you need it for yourself or for a third party. As a current or former Clemson student, you can request your official transcript with ease through Parchment — Clemson’s trusted online source for delivering student transcripts — or by mailing in your completed Transcript request form and other required materials. Please remember, third parties must use the mail-in option to request a transcript on your behalf.

Request a copy of your transcript in a few easy steps using the links below or browse the following menu to learn more about transfer and notary requests.

Requesting Transcripts and Notary Services

  • Request Electronic Transcript via Parchment

An electronic transcript (e-transcript) is an official certified PDF document that is securely delivered electronically to the email address of the designated recipient.

To request your transcript through Parchment, simply click the button below and follow the instructions on the screen to create a learner account. Please be prepared to pay a flat fee of $15.75 per transcript.

    Parchment

After completing your request, you will receive a PDF of your transcript within one to two days. Parchment allows you to select or enter your desired destination in the search field.

Please note that transcripts become unofficial when you forward them from your personal email — so if you’re requesting yours on behalf of a third party, you should ask the recipient how they accept transcripts.

Unofficial transcripts are only available to currently enrolled students.

  • Request Transcript via Mail-In Option

To request your transcript through Clemson University, you’ll need to complete the Transcript Request Form linked below and pay $12.00 per transcript.

You may pay via credit/debit card in person at the Transcript Office (the Office accepts all major debit/credit cards) or by mailing in a check/money order. Please make your check/money order payable to Clemson University.

  • Transcript requests submitted with "Hold for Grades" or "Hold for Degree" designation will be released at the end of the current semester. Please check the Academic Calendar for anticipated dates.
  • Necessary documents like licensure request forms or scholarship applications may accompany your transcript request, limited to two pages. Personal documents such as cover letters or resumes are not permitted to accompany your transcript.
  • If you are unable to pick up your transcript in person, another person may pick it up for you with written permission and their photo ID.

Student Name Changes

The University defines "preferred name" as the name by which you choose to identify yourself within the Clemson community that differs from your official or legal name. We strive to honor your preferred name over your legal name everywhere that we can and wherever your legal name is not absolutely necessary.

Your preferred name will be displayed in the following platforms:

  • my.Clemson Directory (phonebook)
  • Canvas Learning Management System
  • iROAR Including Class Rolls
  • Class Rolls in Data Warehouse and iROAR Report Generator
  • Degree Works
  • TigerOne Card

Need to enter or update your preferred name? Navigate the menu below by topic and get the detailed instructions you need to update this information in your my.Clemson now.

You may also choose to update your TigerOne card to reflect your preferred name. Click the button below for more details.

Preferred Name Change

  • How It Will Affect You

Your preferred first and/or middle name will appear instead of the official/legal name in select University-related systems and documents, as noted above. However, the University must continue to use your official/legal name in all University-related systems and documents that require a verified legal name. (See Legal Name Change section on this page to learn more.)

  • Restrictions

The preferred name you enter may be 32 characters or less and is limited to alpha characters (A-Z and a-z), a space or a hyphen (-). When entering your preferred name, please refrain from using any of the following:

    • Symbols, numbers, unusual capitalization, repeating characters or punctuation
    • Characters from multiple languages
    • Titles of any kind, ex. professional, religious
    • Offensive or suggestive words of any kind
    • Pretending to be anything or anyone else

Inappropriate use of the preferred name (including but not limited to avoiding legal obligation or misrepresentation) may be cause for denying use of preferred names.

Clemson University reserves the right to remove any preferred name that is deemed inappropriate, and as a student, you are subject to the regulations contained in the Student Code of Conduct.

View the Student Code of Conduct to get details on preferred name restrictions.

    2. Click your picture in the upper right corner.

Legal Name Change

Per University policy, we are required to use your full legal name in student records and on all external systems, including official transcripts, enrollment verifications, University diplomas and other external notifications that may be required.

If you have changed your legal name or plan to do so in the future, you will need to provide legal documentation to prompt a name change in your Clemson records and University systems. Otherwise, your initial legal name in our records will remain unchanged until further documentation is provided.

Need to start the legal name change process? We're here to help! There are several documents you can provide to initiate the legal name change process in our records, and you can continue browsing to find out what they are. Please keep in mind that other documents — such as driver's license or notarized statements — cannot substitute required documents for legal name change.
